Wednesday May 2, 2012.  56 new of 16 species; 5 recaps.  New species Great Crested Flycatcher, Yellow Warbler, Common Yellowthroat.   We heard three Whip-poor-wills beyond the field last evening and the winds were from the SW during the night.  Hopes were high for at least a 100+ bird day, but it was another slow day today.  Lots of visitors enjoyed the first Yellow Warbler of the spring, as well as a feisty Great Crested Flycatcher.  Birds of the day were Ruby-crowned Kinglet (including a gold-crowned ruby-crown!) and Yellow-rumped Warbler, both with 11 banded.  Kelly, Peggy and Andrea were busy getting the big room ready for the Dedication of the Robert G. McKinney Banding Lab this coming Sunday.   Betsy Brooks
