Friday May 4, 2012.  158 new bands of 35 species; 12 recaps.  New species Marsh Wren, Veery,  Blue-winged Warbler, Golden-winged Warbler, Northern Parula, Hooded Warbler, Indigo Bunting.  The day started with two Whip-poor Wills ‘singing’ in the area.  We soon had our nets full of birds and the pace was steady until late morning.  The Marsh Wren was a real treat as were the four new warbler species and two Indigo Buntings!  Bird of the day was Ruby-crowned Kinglet with 27 banded.   Allan continues spreading woodchips on our wet trails.  News of the Whip-poor-will in the Owl Woods causes a temporary clearing out of the banding lab so several people could go take a look at it.             Betsy Brooks
