Wednesday September 12, 2012   There were 66 new bands of 19 species; 9 recaps.  New species Blue-headed Vireo.  We had a nice variety today with one each of Yellow-bellied Flycatcher, Blue-headed Vireo, Philadelphia Vireo, Red-breasted Nuthatch, Ruby-crowned Kinglet, American Robin, Gray Catbird, Black-throated Blue Warbler, Wilson’s Warbler and Rose-breasted Grosbeak.

Bird of the day was Black-poll Warbler with 26 banded; Magnolia Warbler was second highest with 8 banded.

Katie had a good number of birds to test in the MARS trailer.  We had not intended to set up the alphabet trail this fall but we couldn’t resist setting up five nets there in the cool shade to provide a good alternative netting area on hot days.

Betsy continued conferences with all banders and scribes to discuss errors found in their data.  Ryan is scheduled to give Betsy her conference tomorrow!    Betsy Brooks
