Monday April 29, 2013  75 new of 15 species; 15 recaps.  New species Black-throated Blue Warbler.  It was a fine morning of banding today! We only opened seven nets at the start, due to showery weather, but conditions slowly improved so that by the fourth hour, all nets were open. We banded one Black-throated Blue Warbler, a beautiful male which was the first of that species to be banded this season. 35 Ruby-crowned Kinglets were the most numerous species banded today. Eleven Black-capped Chickadees were the next highest number. We enjoyed the singing of a Brown Thrasher for most of the morning, but never caught him in the nets. Also not captured, was a Baltimore Oriole which Ryan heard singing. It was great to welcome Ryan and Betsy back for the Spring season and also to have Kelly back with us for the upcoming week. It looks like it will be a great week, with lots of sunshine and southerly winds!        Cindy Marino
