Monday May 6, 2013.  39 new of 16 species,  7 recaps.  New species Chestnut-sided Warbler.  We heard a flock of Evening Grosbeaks overhead as we set up the nets, but they chose to come down in the old ‘Pear Orchard’ along Manitou Beach Road instead.  Later, in the afternoon, Rodney Olsen’s students from his science class at the Diversified Occupations School in Middlebury, Vermont arrived for their annual May visit.  We set up a few nets but were not able to catch any birds, but at least the students got a chance to see our set-up so they are ready for tomorrow’s banding.  Kelly continued her non-stop weeding and replanting of the Memorial Garden and at the house.  Betsy Brooks
