Sunday May 12, 2013:  48 new birds of 18 species, 12 recaps.  New species:  Blackburnian Warbler.  Spring has come and gone, and we are back in the throws of winter  – rain, wind, hail, and even a chance of snow!  We closed the nets an hour early due to wind and rain, but we had a decent day banding nonetheless.  It was busy enough to keep us occupied, but slow enough so that we could take time to examine and compare birds of the same species.  The highlight of the day was the ASY male Blackburnian Warbler, although he had a little competition from a beautiful Black-throated Green Warbler.  Black-capped Chickadee was bird of the day with 9 new bands.
