Tuesday June 5, 2013:  27 new birds of 17 species, 18 recaps.  The penultimate day of spring banding brought two more young (recently fledged) Grackles, a handful of birds in breeding condition, and the return of a Black-capped Chickadee showing clear symmetrical molt in both wings (which should only happen at the END of the summer!).  We also banded the 5000th bird of the spring season – a Northern Waterthrush.  Unfortunately, it went out the release window before we could get a photo of it today!

Two young Grackles - but notice the one on the left is farther along than the one on the right.
