High Acres Nature Area – August 3, 2013

In spite of early weather reports predicting rain, we were able to complete the final Monitoring Avian Productivity and Survivorship (MAPS) session for 2013 at High Acres Nature Area (HANA) on Saturday, August 3, 2013.  We banded 15 new birds of 10 different species.  Five recaptures were also processed.  The highlight of the day was an After Hatch Year Carolina Wren.

Seven volunteers helped with this final session.  Over the course of the MAPS sessions this summer, a total of 19 volunteers participated!!  This incredible support for the MAPS project at HANA was truly appreciated.  The logistic support of Waste Management, which owns HANA, was also appreciated and is gratefully acknowledged.
