Sunday August 13, 2017.  35 new birds of 15 species, 18 recaps.  New species:  Eastern Wood-pewee, Yellow-bellied Flycatcher, Least Flycatcher, Wood Thrush, Bay-breasted Warbler, Baltimore Oriole.  Bird of the day was a tie between Gray Catbird and Yellow Warbler, each with 7 new bands.

It’s strange how yesterday and today can be so radically different.  Yesterday, the orioles were silent . . . today  they were chattering up a storm.  Yesterday we caught 5 Song Sparrows (plus a couple recaps) . . . today we caught none.  Yesterday, our only flycatcher was Traill’s . . . today we had Traill’s as well as three additional species.

Our most surprising bird today might have been the Bay-breasted Warbler.  She’s a bit on the early side, but she was already pudgy and ready to go!
