Braddock Bay Bird Observatory

September 22, 2017 We banded 45 new birds of 15 species and there were ten recaps. Our bird of the day was Winter Wren! We banded ten of them. We also banded a Marsh Wren, which is always fun to see up close and personal. But the most amazing thing we saw today was not birds, but butterflies! The wild Asters in our fields are in full bloom and there were hundreds of Painted Lady butterflies everywhere. Monarchs were present also, but in smaller numbers. Cindy Marino, BIC
