Wednesday, April 18 2018:  11 new birds of 5 species, 5 recaps.  New species:  Yellow-bellied Sapsucker, Blue-headed Vireo, Ruby-crowned Kinglet, American Robin, and Song Sparrow.  Bird of the day was American Robin with 6 new bands.

It didn’t feel like spring today, but we started the morning slow with just a few nets and gradually opened all of them as things (barely) warmed up.  Our staff ran 15-minute runs for most of the morning, getting their 10,000 steps in well before their first coffee break!

There weren’t many birds today, but what there was . . . was AWESOME!  Not one, but two sapsuckers, a Blue-headed Vireo, and a recaptured Ruby-crowned Kinglet that came from some other banding station!  We can’t tell you where (because we don’t yet know), but stay tuned and we’ll let you know as soon as we do.
